Mack A. Arnold, Jr.

To Founders Club Members:

As you learned yesterday, we lost a pioneer on Thursday evening with the death of Mack A. Arnold, Jr. There will be an obituary in the News-Record on Sunday but the details are as follows:

Visitation Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hanes-Lineberry, North Elm Street Funeral Home

Funeral on Monday at 1030 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church on North Elm Street (parking available across from the church at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home)

Due to the size of the church all Founders Club members are requested to arrive by 10:00 to be seated. (In order to know how many rows to save, PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND THE SERVICE.

Since Mack was the founder of the Green Coat Club, it would be appropriate for you to wear your GREEN Coat, but your Founders Club coat can be worn if you prefer. I plan to wear my GREEN COAT.

Mack A. Arnold, Jr., 86, died Thursday evening at Pennyburn. His services are incomplete and Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Funeral Home is assisting the family.

What's on ebay? King Cotton Bottle Opener


"This wonderful Hotel King Cotton spoon/bottle opener is 8 inches long and I believe from the 1920's. Hotel King Cotton was one of Greensboro, North Carolina's finest hotels from the 1920's to the 1950's. This highly collectable piece of history is in very good condition, there is just a little rust on this strong metal spoon, click onto pictures here for a better view." (The King Cotten Hotel is the birth place of the Greensboro Jaycees.)

+Original vintage Greater Greensboro Open Golf tournament press pass /identification large pinback. Early 1960s, found in a 1960-1963 High School football player's scrapbook. For Benny Phillips, at the time working for the Thomasville (NC) Times.

"Benny Phillips is best-known for his work in covering NASCAR, winning a host of awards, including National Motorsports Press Association Writer of the Year seven times. He wrote a monthly racing magazine column for 27 years and was an on-camera commentator for 12 years. Phillips, a graduate of High Point College, worked 48 years for the High Point Enterprise, including 32 as sports editor. Phillips worked for ESPN and TBS for over 12 years. He has written four books, including the Dale Earnhardt biography “Determined.”
