Sam Snead's Badge Collection

In 2004, the ggoblogger had an opportunity to travel up to Sam Snead's home and look at part of his private collection. This is a photo from that trip. I love the fact he displayed his Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic badge along side his Masters badge. Check out the McDonald's badge at the bottom right handed side. With that badge he could eat free at McDonald for life.

Wyndham Championship winner Sergio Garcia will play 2013 Wyndham Championship

2012 Wyndham Championship winner Sergio Garcia will return to Sedgefield Country Club in August to defend his Wyndham title. Garcia took a one-shot lead into the final round of last year’s Wyndham and won by two shots over Tim Clark shooting a 4-under 66 in the final round; it was his first win on TOUR since the 2008 PLAYERS Championship. Garcia is currently 15th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 55th in the FedExCup point standings. The eight-time PGA TOUR winner will be making his fifth Wyndham Championship appearance. “I am really happy to defend my title at the Wyndham Championship in August,” Garcia said. “I have always enjoyed playing at Sedgefield from my days as an amateur. Wyndham has done a great job over the years putting together a great event, and the fans have made it a great week every time I have played there.” “Having Sergio back to defend his title is a huge deal for the Wyndham Championship,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Sergio is one of the biggest draws in professional golf so his decision to defend his title is a testament to how much he likes our event and Sedgefield. We are thrilled that Sergio would commit this early setting the stage for another great Wyndham field.”

1988 Greater Greensboro Open

What's on ebay? GGO Print Signed by Arthur Sarnoff

"Wood Frame Matted Print Signed Arthur Sarnoff. Wonderfully illustrated print of the Greater Greensboro Open Golf Tournament, surrounded by the beautiful Sedgefield Inn. Spectators looking on as Gary Player (well known for his black attire), attempting his putt at the 18th hole. Unsure, but I do believe this to be a lithograph print, however I am unwilling to tear the back off to determine so. Research shows this to be a print of an original painting "SEDGEFIELD" as commissioned for "The Greater Greensboro Open", I believe to be illustrating the 1970 golf tournament. This framed print measures 22 3/4" x 17", original paper backing remains attached, as well as the wire for hanging. Condition of this piece is great, with little to no fading of the very colorful print, colors remaining vibrant. Condition issues to be noted; wood frame has some scratches present, but is sturdy with joints remaining tight. Minimal yellowing around the white matted edges. Original paper backing also remains attached, with few stains, tears, some areas around the edges where it has pulled loose. Glass / Plexiglass is clear, free of any cracks or breaks."

Owen Covington reports on Wyndham Championship

"The golf tournament was a charitable organization masquerading as a golf tournament," said Maginnes, now a golf analyst with SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio. "Now it's a business masquerading as a golf tournament, and a charitable entity." This excerpt was taken from an article written by Owen Covington for the The Business Journal entitled Wyndham Championship has become 'regional party of the year' to read the entire article go to the following link: http://www.bizjournals.com/triad/news/2013/07/16/building-on-relationships-wyndham.html?page=all

Margaritaville at Wyndham Championship

Margaritaville at the Wyndham will be located between the first hole and the clubhouse on the large covered deck that was the Wyndham Boardwalk last year and will be open for the duration of the tournament. At Margaritaville at the Wyndham, fans will be serenaded by Margaritaville’s island-inspired music on Radio Margaritaville as they enjoy an ice cold Landshark Lager, a cool concoction or a Cheeseburger in Paradise. Margaritaville at the Wyndham will also feature live music Tuesday through Sunday afternoons after play has cleared from the first hole. “Margaritaville at the Wyndham really takes our fan amenities to a new level,” Wyndham Championship tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Wyndham’s “Escape to the Wyndham” ad campaign was named the PGA TOUR’s best last year; the Wyndham beach next to the 15th green is back this year. The tropical entrance and leis to spectators as they arrive will return this year, and Margaritaville at the Wyndham truly activates our tropical vacation-themed campaign like nothing else we have done. We are expecting some huge crowds around this venue especially late in the day when play is complete, and we have live music. I can’t wait to see this thing come to life; it should be a lot of fun.” Some of the prizes at Wyndham’s “Key to Wyn” location will be Margaritaville merchandise, and fans will also be able to purchase Margaritaville products through an online retail kiosk located inside the Margaritaville at the Wyndham location. Come Monday, after the tournament is complete, fans will return to their day-to-day lives with memories of the tropics courtesy of Margaritaville at the Wyndham.

Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker will play 2013 Wyndham Championship

Wyndham Championship winners Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker will return to Sedgefield Country Club next month to play the Wyndham Championship. Simpson and Snedeker join reigning champion Sergio Garcia in the tournament field that will now develop rapidly with less than five weeks remaining until tournament week. Simpson is the 2012 U.S. Open Champion. A Raleigh native and Wake Forest University alumnus, he won his first PGA TOUR event at the Wyndham in 2011 and finished tied for eighth in 2010. Simpson is currently 12th in the FedExCup point standings and 19th in the Official World Golf Rankings. The three-time PGA TOUR winner will be making his fifth consecutive Wyndham Championship appearance; he is 10th in the Wyndham Championship’s all-time money-winner standings with $1,127,073 in tournament winnings. Snedeker is third in the current FedExCup point standings and seventh in the Official World Golf Rankings. The reigning FedExCup Champion, Snedeker will be making his seventh-consecutive appearance in the Wyndham Championship where he is seventh on the tournament’s all-time money-winners list with $1,262,759. Snedeker won the Wyndham in 2007, the first with Wyndham Worldwide as the title sponsor and has two additional top-10 finishes here. The Vanderbilt University alumnus is a five-time PGA TOUR winner; he won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am earlier this year. “Having two of our past champions commit to the Wyndham Championship field so early is big news for us,” Wyndham Championship tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Webb won the U.S. Open last year, Brandt won the FedExCup last year, and both of them are top 20 in the world. That’s pretty impressive, and I know North Carolina golf fans will be excited to learn they’ll both be playing the Wyndham again this year.”

We sincerely appreciate Bill Black, Don Flow and all of the other Piedmont Triad Cadillac dealers for all of the assistance they provided in making this sponsorship possible.” Cadillac has been a leading luxury auto brand since 1902.
