What's on eBay? 4/13/1971 Golf World Magazine
"4-13-1971 Golf World magazine BUD ALLIN Wins GREENSBORO
Here is the April 13, 1971 Golf World with a great cover photo of Bud Allin and his wife Celia. Mr. Allin had just won the Greater Greensboro Open at Sedgefield CC and this issue has a fine account of the event. The 31-page magazine also has coverage of the Italian Open (won by Ramon Sota) and the University of Miami Invitational (where Andy North won individual honors in leading his Florida Gators to the team title).
Perhaps most appealingly, it has a report (with 3 pictures) on a very rare exhibition Ben Hogan had played with Tommy Bolt at the Bardmoor CC in Largo, Florida. You aren’t likely to find a nicer example of this 36-year old periodical so, if you enjoy golf history, or are a fan of the great Ben Hogan, don‘t miss this opportunity."

Sedgefield Country Club, the newly named venue of the PGA TOUR’s Wyndham Championship, will also play host to 99 of the best junior boys in the world during the FootJoy Invitational June 9-13, 2008, the American Junior Golf Association announced Thursday. Now in its seventh year, the FootJoy Invitational has had four of its champions go on to win Rolex Junior Player of the Year honors in the same year.
"This is an exciting opportunity for the FootJoy Invitational," Mark Brazil, tournament director for the Wyndham Championship and tournament chairman for the FootJoy Invitational, said. "These talented young men will now have access to a recently restored 1926 Donald Ross design and PGA TOUR venue when they come to Greensboro in June.""

What's on eBay? 1973 GGO Letter Opener
This letter opener, which measures 7 inches long, is in good shape although it does have some surface marring and the back looks a little dull. Would probably clean up some. It comes with a black holder which I think is vinyl. I do not know who won the tournament in 1973 - perhaps one of you fans out there could enlighten me.
Item number: 320229788467
(Please let the ggoblogger enlighten you. The 1973 Greater Greensboro Open was played at Sedgefield Country Club. The 1973 event was won by Chi Chi Rodriguez. This piece is one of the ggoblogger's favorite GGO collectible items of all time. You can actually use this for something. I've had one for years.)

ggoblogger Golf Shoe Update
(Warning, the following post has nothing to do with golf, the Windham Championship or any other meaningful purpose. Our reader(s) mentioned the site has been a little dark lately and in need of new content so the ggoblogger wanted to have a little fun today. Please return later for the history stuff. If that's what you are looking for, STOP READING NOW!)
On July 25, 2007 the ggoblogger told a sad tale of being clowned in front of the Greeensboro Jaycee office by none other than the Wyndham Championship's Tournament Director Mark Brazil. For those of you that missed the post it read as follows.
"The ggoblogger and Kevin von der Lippe have agreed again this year to help Sedgefield celebrate its rich tournament history by using some of the vast GGO archives to decorate for a couple of tournament related events to be held at their clubhouse this year. While on a recent visit to the "GGO Archives" located at the Greensboro Jaycee office, the two junior history buffs spotted Mark Brazil retuning from what they were sure was some very important meeting in which networking was used.
The ggoblogger, realizing how important the tournament director is, wanted to leave the scene and not waste any of his time. von der Lippe, on the other hand, never missing an opportunity to remind someone about the "good ole days" or just complain about something in general jumped at the chance to get some face time with the TD."Hey guys," Mark said as he approached the two fellow Green Coats as they stood in the Jaycee parking lot.
Kevin quickly took his place in Mark's bubble and began asking questions faster than humanly possible to answer. It is important at this part of the tale to understand that the ggoblogger was standing quietly and had at this point only waved hello. Mark looked over and noticed that the blogger was wearing a new pair of tennis shoes and commented that it was about time that "you got rid of that pair of New Balances you've been wearing forever."
He then went on to insult the ggoblogger's favorite pair of golf shoes calling them "plastic". I can't believe Mark Brazil clowned me in front of the Jaycee office. And to think I felt bad about all those jokes about his height I'd told in the past."
Greater Greensboro Open Blog reader(s) may be wondering what happened to the pair of golf shoes. Well, a lot has happened since that post. Dr. Bray purchased a new pair of golf shoes for the ggoblogger during a recent golf outing and he expressed the same concerns Brazil had about the shoes. So with a new pair of FootJoys on his feet the ggoblogger tossed the old pair. Now Mark can pick on someone his own size. (Please see file footage.)
