Seve Ballesteros continues recovery
Seve Ballesteros has begun chemotherapy as he continues his recovery from a brain tumour.
"Ballesteros, 51, returned to his home in northern Spain from Madrid, where he was released from hospital on Dec 9. The winner of five majors went into hospital after collapsing in October.
"Today is Friday, and I have started me first chemotherapy session," Ballesteros said in a statement on his website.
"At this point, my thought is to rest and follow the neurosurgeon doctors Heredero, Isla and Perez Alvarez's indications - as well as the oncologist doctor Cristobel Belda's advice."
The 51-year-old was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent a lengthy operation on October 24 to reduce pressure on his brain and remove remaining tumour tissues following two previous operations.
On November 18 he had recovered sufficiently to leave intensive care but was readmitted a fortnight later for further surgery."

Devil Ball Golf Blog Insults Greater Greensboro Open
In an article entitled "Tiger's caddy is pretty mouthy for a guy who carries a bag"
Jay Busbee, of the Yahoo blog Devil Ball Golf, insults the Greater Greensboro Open with the following:
"I can think of only one way to settle this: Caddy Cage Match. Lock Williams and Bones in a steel cage on the 17th at Sawgrass and let 'em go at it. Come on, tell me you wouldn't rather watch that than yet another installment of the Greater Greensboro Open."

Anonymous Comment/Question of the Week
"Wyndham Worldwide to cut 4,000 jobs
December 8, 2008
PARSIPPANY, N.J.—Wyndham Worldwide Corp., a major hospitality company which franchises Ramada, Days Inn and other hotels, said Monday it would restructure its time-share business and eliminate 4,000 jobs.
Wyndham said in a statement that it is scaling back the scope of its timeshare business as a way to cut its reliance on asset-backed securities. The company did not return a phone call seeking comment.
The job cuts represent about 12 percent of the company's overall work force. The pullback will result in charges of up to $75 million to be taken mainly in the fourth quarter.
Wyndham now expects sales in the timeshare business will be $1.2 billion in 2009, down from $2.0 billion in 2008, as it eliminates sales offices and marketing programs.
Wyndham also reiterated its fourth quarter and 2008 guidance. But based on the changes to its timeshare business and current economic conditions, the company says it now expects to earn revenue of $3.7 to $4.1 billion for 2009, down from previously announced expectations of $4.1 to $4.5 million for the year.
What does this mean for the tournament?"
The ggoblogger is not one to start trouble. First of all I do not speak for the Wyndham Championship. Mark Brazil, Tournament Director of the Wyndham Championship, would be the one to answer this question. He can be reached at (336)379-1570.
My reader(s) have made it clear over the years that they like my photos and my history lessons, but not my editorials so as always thanks for reading the Greater Greensboro Open Blog.

What's on eBay?-1976 GGO Decanter
Vintage GGO (Greater Greensboro Open) Decanter Liquor Bottle 1976
By Royal Halburton
Vintage Greater Greensboro Open GGO Golf Decanter 1976
Item number: 350137928410
"This auction is for a vintage 1976 GGO Greater Greensboro Open Declaration of Springtime decanter. These were given away at the 1976 GGO. They are very rare & hard to find. The decanter is No. 50 and made by Royal Halburton. This was the 39th GGO and it was held at Sedgefield County Club on March 29- April 4, 1976. The decanter is in excellent shape. It does not have any nicks or cracks. It measures 4.25 inches wide at the base & 9.5 inches tall. The irons on the top are made of real metal. The rest of the decanter is porcelain."
(The ggoblogger likes to post these items as a sevice to those readers that have an interest in collecting GGO items. These descriptions come directly from the sellers on eBay. I just wanted to point out that this one is flat out wrong about the irons in this golf bag being metal. They are just painted silver and are porcelain just like the rest of the decanter. This is covered on page 26 of A GGO Thing.)
