"Not only was Mary (Schott Speaker) Greensboro's first female Jaycee President, but she was also the first female president of the North Carolina Jaycees.
During her tenure with the NC Jaycees, she ousted the "institute system" that dictated how the state was going to vote in national Jaycee elections. With NC Jaycees rejection of the 'institute system,' our members’ voices were once again heard, and we voted by majority rule. "

Happy Thanksgiving from the Greater Greensboro Open Blog
I didn't have any Thanksgiving related GGO photos so I pulled this one out of the "Where are they Now?" file. This is a picture of little MacKenzie in the pumpkin patch and in her Halloween outfit. She is the daughter of 1996 Greensboro Jaycee President Amy Collins. She is now Amy C. Moore and is the Executive Assistant to the Dean and Office Manager School of MusicUniversity of North Carolina at Greensboro.

This Week
The 1989 Kmart Greater Greensboro Open Executive Committee made th cover of This Week in the Piedmont Traid. It was a guide for Visitors and Newcomers. The cover also reads "April 15-22, 1989 K-Mart GGO Opens 51st Year with Million Dollar Purse". 1989 KGGO General Chairman Randy Cobb stands in the background with future general chairman and mayor Keith Holliday.
