I will go on record and say that I think the tournament held here in Greensboro should see this momentary lack of sponsorship as an opportunity to reclaim its former glory and call itself the Greater Greensboro Open.

Notice I refered to it as a "tournament", which is a contest composed of a series of elimination rounds and not an "event" which is a social gathering or a single item on a sports program.

For whatever reason the local daily paper has taken to refering to the golf tournament as a "golf event". I understand that hundreds of people come to it each year and never see a single drive, but the truth is that it is an officially sanctioned PGA TOUR, not PGA, tournament.
