Mr. Bryan was a member of the Augusta National Golf Club and according to his archivist, Kevin von der Lippe, he held badge number one for The Masters. In 1937, the Greensboro Jaycees asked him to guarantee the purse of the first GGO and in 1955 he became the Honorary General Chairman for the Greater Greensboro Open. In 1971 the City of Greensboro named the new municipal golf complex, Bryan Park, in honor of Mr. Bryan and his wife Kathleen. This Carol Martin portrait of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M Bryan is hanging outside the snack bar at Bryan Park. (It really should not be displayed in the direct sunlight and will probably fade completely in a few years unless it is moved.)This journal is dedicated to the preservation and discussion of memorabilia and related topics from the Greater Greensboro Open, Kmart Greater Greensboro Open, Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic, Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, Wyndham Championship and occasionally the Nike Greensboro Open and the Greensboro Buy.Com.

He did hold badge #1, as those badges were issued in descending order by age. And by the way, badge #2 went to a Wilmington resident.
