http://www.fashionavenue.org/
Northridge, CA (August 26, 2006) - Zalemark Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Jeong Jang to its family of celebrity spokespersons. Together, LPGA champion Jang and award-winning jewelry designer Steven Zale will combine efforts to support Operation Smile, a charity that provides free reconstructive surgery to children around the globe suffering with facial deformities.
Jeong Jang ("JJ") was the 5th ranked golfer in the world according to the LPGA Tour's official money list last year as well as its top Asian player. She began playing golf at the age of 13, and quickly became one of the leading amateur players in her native Korea. In 2000, JJ brought her game to the United States and the LPGA Tour and amassed the kind of results that bely her five foot tall frame. In 2005, JJ lead the LPGA tour in birdies and top 10 finishes and won her first "major", the prestigious Women's Weetabix British Open. In 2006, JJ has continued her winning ways with a win at the Wegman's LPGA, in Rochester, New York. Jang stated, "I am honored to team up with Zalemark in offering these beautiful pendants to raise money and awareness for the children of Operation Smile. Together, I think that we can reach my goal of helping to fund a full medical mission during Operation Smile's 25th anniversary in 2007."
Eric Bursztyn, Chief Operating Officer of Zalemark, Inc. remarks, "We are ecstatic to have JJ join our team as the spokesperson for our Operation Smile pendant. This is a great opportunity for all parties involved, but especially for the children of Operation Smile. We are glad for this opportunity to join with JJ in support of an incredible cause."
The Operation Smile pendant is the third celebrity-endorsed creation from award-winning designer, Steven Zale. Zalemark, Inc.'s celebrity team also includes supermodel and actress Rachel Hunter, spokesperson of the enormously successful Demeter® line, as well as martial arts and film star Don "The Dragon" Wilson, who represents Zalemark's limited-edition Legend of the Dragon pendant.
Zalemark, Inc. offers four variations of the Operation Smile Pendant, ranging from silver and 14 karat gold-plated to solid platinum and 18 karat gold set with pave' diamonds. Each piece demonstrates designer Steven Zale's noteworthy attention to detail and desire for utmost quality. In addition, Zalemark has launched a dedicated web site for Operation Smile, http://www.fashionavenue.orq/. This site is dedicated to selling Operation Smile pendants. These pendants, with Jeong Jang's signature inscribed on the back, will also be made available through Jeong Jang's website, http://www.gojjgo.com/, in the coming months.
Operation Smile was founded in 1982 and launched that same year with its first mission to the Philippines. The foundation currently supports international and local, in-country medical missions to 24 partner countries. The volunteers of Operation Smile have medically treated 98,000 children and young adults around the world. More information about this organization can be found at http://www.operationsmile.org/.
Zalemark, Inc., http://www.zalemark.com/, is a Northridge-based manufacturer of fine jewelry. Steven Zale, award-winning jewelry designer, is the Chairman and CEO of the company. Zalemark is a proud supporter of the children of Operation Smile.

"A spelling error was made and because of that you thought it appropriate to slam it.I personally enter the information on the site, and I made a mistake, and I have no problem fixing it nor any problem taking responsibility for it (by the way it has already been corrected, thank you for bringing it to my attention).
Next time, could you be courteous enough to send a message to webmaster@jaycee.org rather than the avenue you chose. Myself along with many others go to your blog to see what archived documents or pictures you have posted about the GGO because it is entertaining and brings back some fond memories…..Not to be mocked. Please have respect for the organization that I assume means a great deal to you and offer support not harm.
Thank you,
Jessica Pearson "
Jessica, I would first like to thank you and the "many others" that read my blog. I am glad you find it entertaining and that it has brought back some good memories for you.
As far as "slamming" an error made on the Jaycee website, I'd like to point out that this blog often reports on headlines, omissions and mistakes made by the local media with regards to how the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro is covered. I saw the error on your website as more of the same. (I don't inform other editors of their mistakes either.)
I know errors happen. I can remember one email sent out by a Jaycee in which the author misspelled his own name. I am sure this blog contains hundreds of misspelled words and just poor grammar, but as I pointed out in my first "slam" no one is paying me millions of dollars.
On a side note, I was the 1997 Communications Director that worked with Dan to bring www.jaycee.org on line. So I guess I just expect more. Keep up the good work Jessica and thanks for reading the Greater Greensboro Open Blog.

"Crhysler" Classic of Greensboro Executive Committee Meeting Planned
I was reading the Greensboro Jaycee website and I noticed that the "Crhysler" Classic of Greensboro Executive Committee Meeting will be held on Monday, September 11, 2006 starting at 6:30 pm. This is the monthly planning meeting of the Executive Committee of the CCG.
I wasn't sure what the "Crhysler Classic" was, but it sounds a lot like the Chrysler Classic. You'd think, after 11 great years as title sponsor, the Jaycees would be able to spell the name right. (Don't send any comments about my spelling. I misspell things all the time, but then again no one's paying me 5 million dollars either.)

Welcome to the Mole Hill
I am still not sure if the people that write the headlines at the News and Record actually read the articles or not? There was an article in Monday's paper with the headline-"Securing a PGA future in Greensboro...Priceless."
There are three small points I'd like to make. If you read the article, you would soon find out that securing the event was anything but priceless as Robert Bell wrote:
"Bobby Long, chairman of the Greensboro Jaycees Charitable Foundation which runs the tournament, declined to say how much the foundation paid, and the expense won't be listed on the nonprofit's tax records until next year. But sources familiar with the arrangement said the foundation paid about $525,000 for the services of Steinberg and IMG, the sports management company for which he works."
A better headline might have been "Securing a PGA (TOUR) future in Greensboro for a Price."
I also want to point out that the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro is a PGA TOUR event and not a PGA event.
The PGA Tour is an organization which is headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It operates the USA's main professional golf tours.
The PGA is a group of golf professionals that are expert instructors, skilled businesspersons and community leaders. They are uniquely qualified to teach the game and conduct the business of golf.
The article when on to say:
"They got one of the most respected and powerful men in golf advocating for them," said Kym Hougham, tournament director for the Wachovia Championship. "What (Brazil and Jaycees President Justin Conrad) did to turn things around in Greensboro was a big factor in why they are part of the FedEx."
Again this is a small detail, but Justin Conrad was the 2005 General Chairman of the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro and ,in fact, not the President of the Greensboro Jaycees.
These excerpts were taken from the following linl. To read the entire article go to:

1964 GGO Stag Night
I recently ran across this article that first appeared in The Greensboro Record on Wednesday, March 11, 1964. It details the Greater Greensboro Open's plans for the upcoming "Stag Night". Not only does the article promote the event, but goes on to say that Gary Player spoke at the Stag Night the year before.
The event started at 6:30 p.m. and the "fun hour" began at 9:00p.m.. Tickets were limited to the first "400" and were sold at the Sedgefield Country Club and other local golf shops.
