What's on eBay? Golf World George Archer Wins Greensboro Open
4-11-1972 Golf World GEORGE ARCHER Wins GREENSBORO OPEN
Here is the April 11, 1972 Golf World with a great cover photo of George Archer, pictured with Tour official Tom Place. Mr. Archer had just defeated fellow Masters champion Tommy Aaron in a play-off to win the Greensboro open and this issue has a fine account of the event.
The 31-page magazine also has coverage of the International 4-Ball (won by the team of Joe Inman and Mark Hayes), the Miami Invitational (where Gary Koch won individual honors in leading his Florida Gators to the team title) and much more. This copy shows some signs of general age wear but is quite an attractive example of this 35-year old periodical. Insurance is available upon request. I cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged items that are not insured. I will be very happy to combine shipping on multiple wins whenever possible. Thank you for looking and good luck.

Win-Win at the Wyndham Championship
Tickets Supporting Charities
More than 300 Piedmont Triad charitable organizations have been invited to participate in Win-Win at the Wyndham, an innovative new program designed to increase revenue for the charities while selling tickets to the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event.
In keeping with the PGA Tour’s commitment to charity, the Wyndham Championship is increasing its community involvement by creating this program intended to help Piedmont Triad 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations engage their members and volunteers in a ground-breaking fundraising project.
Each charitable organization will design and manage its own program to sell Wyndham Championship tickets. When the tournament is over, each charity will receive half of the proceeds from the tickets it sold.
In addition, the charity that sells the most tournament tickets will be recognized during the tournament’s closing ceremony on the 18th green immediately following the Wyndham Championship.
To participate, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization can simply contact the tournament office. “We are truly proud to introduce Win-Win at the Wyndham,” tournament director Mark Brazil said.
“Charity is at the heart of just about everything the PGA TOUR does, and it’s the responsibility of each tournament to enhance its charitable participation each year. The more tournament tickets a charity sells, the bigger donation it gets from the Wyndham Championship. This program is just underway, and the early response from the charities has been phenomenal.”
The process is simple for the charities. To participate, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization must register with the tournament, customize the Win-Win at the Wyndham form to reflect the program the charity will implement and start selling tickets.
Charities may sell tickets through whatever method best suits its needs. Both the Greensboro and High Point United Way organizations will participate in Win-Win at The Wyndham. “The Win-Win at the Wyndham is just that; a win for all participating charitable organizations and a win for our region,” Bobby Smith, president of United Way of Greater High Point said. “The Win-Win program allows the nonprofit community to benefit from the generosity of the Wyndham Championship.
In turn, the nonprofit community has shown incredible interest in supporting the tournament through increased ticket sales.”“The nonprofit community—and the Triad as a whole—will benefit immeasurably from Win-Win at the Wyndham,” Eleanor Schaffner-Mosh, President, Board of Directors, Community Theatre of Greensboro said. “This innovative program will raise awareness for all participating charities as well as for the Triad's only major-league sporting event.”
The 2007 Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 13-19 at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. The tournament welcomes Wyndham Worldwide as its new title sponsor and thanks Premier Partners, AIG, Harris Teeter and VF Corporation for their continued support.
Additional tournament information is available at www.wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office at (336) 379-1570.

High Point Jaycees Get Recognition!
DURHAM, NC -- The High Point Jaycees were recently recognized at the 2007 Awards Weekend Convention of the North Carolina Jaycees. This is the first time High Point has been recognized in many years and a wonderful change for the chapter. The first recognition came when they were announced as being one of the few chapters at year-to-date growth at +1.
Of 11 chapters in the North Area they are 1 of 3 chapters able to claim growth for the year in the first 4 months of the year. Their second recogintion came when their project "Operation: Relaunch" was awarded Outstanding Strategic Planning project of the First Trimester First Place.
High Point Jaycee member, Gene Shanks was then announced as being one of the top Program Managers in the state for the work he's been doing in the North Area (especially for High Point and Asheboro). Shanks was also given a "Team Player" award as well.
Congratulations to the entire chapter for working so hard to make the High Point chapter one of the best in the state. If you would like to join the High Point Jaycees, we have our meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at Carter's Brother BBQ off Samet Drive in High Point. "
