"PGA Tour golfer Brandt Snedeker, who earned his first tour victory at last year's Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, has committed to be part of this year's field.
Snedeker also inked a sponsorship deal with Wyndham Worldwide.
"I learned a lot about my game and myself during the season," Snedeker said. "For a company like Wyndham to take an interest in my career and display their confidence in my abilities, both on the golf course and as a spokesperson off the course, is truly an honor." "

Happy Birthday Greater Greensboro Open Blog
While it is not nearly as impressive as turning forty years old, the ggoblogger did think it was worth pointing out that today is the third anniversary/birthday of the Greater Greensboro Open Blog. No gifts please.
Happy 40th Birthday-Mike Davis
2004 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro General Chairman Mike Davis celebrated his 40th birthday on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at a party that would make any Area 4 Leadman proud.
For the photos we can't show you on this blog (this is a family show) turn in your hymnal to http://www.fredhotline.blogspot.com/
Happy birthday Mike D.
Happy 40th Birthday to Amy Collins Moore
Amy Collins Moore celebrated her 40th birthday on January 19, 2008. Amy was the 1996 President of the Greensboro Jaycees and at the time was one of the youngest people to ever hold that office.
Of course the party was attended by many of Amy's "jaycee" friends, with on less than three Green Coater at the event. In a very rare moment however, the number of former Projector editors outnumbered Green Coats 4-3.

Does This Green Coat Have a Point?
"I found it interesting a couple of people assumed I was a JCI Senator. Certified PRIME Trainer, yes...but NOT a JCI Senator. It's a little embarrasing that afer 13 years in this club, serving in every programming area on the local or state level, 3 international awards, and 3 state positions...my chapter (meaning Greensboro, the one I was with for 11 years) has never seen it fit to grant me such an honor. Especially when many people who have done far less have gotten a senatorship. Oh well, it is what it is."

Comment of the Week
"One of my fondest memories in the Jaycees was Christmas Caroling at Mr. Bains home. He invited us in and absolutely enjoyed telling and showing us memories he had of the tournament...one being a hat the Sam Snead had given him.
What a wonderful man.
Thanks Mr. Bain!"
Jack Hart
(The ggoblogger was also lucky enough to go caroling at Carson Bain's home with a group of Greensboro Jaycees. He told us stories as well and as a close friend of Sam Snead, he did indeed have one of Sam's hats. The ggoblogger even took a photo of Bart Revels wearing it.)

Robert Bell Reports Wyndham Championship Appears on the Move
"Officials with the Wyndham Championship are close to completing a deal that would end the PGA Tour event's 30-year run at Forest Oaks Country Club and likely return it to Sedgefield Country Club for this year's event.
Sources familiar with the negotiations said an agreement between the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation, the nonprofit group that runs the Wyndham, and the Nisshin Corp., which owns Forest Oaks, is expected to be announced in February."

(The ggoblogger does enjoy Robert Bell's work, but this blogger did find a couple of minor errors in this latest article. As fellow blogger, Patrick Eakes, pointed out to the ggoblogger the other day-the tournament has had a 31 year run at Forest Oaks Country Club (1977-2007). Also, the Greensboro Jaycees signed the deal with FOCC in 2002, not is 2003, as the article stated. As many of you will recall, the Davis Love III redesign was well under way by the time 2003 rolled around.)

Greensboro Jaycees Plan Inaugral Ball for February 6, 2008
The calendar on the Greensboro Jaycee website has posted Wednesday,February 6, 2008 as the date for this year's Greensboro Jaycee Inaugural Ball. The event will be held at the historic Blandwood Manor from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Congratulations Todd Lotz and Sara Barlowe
The ggoblogger would like to congratulate Todd Lotz on his recent engagement to Sara Marie Barlowe. Friends of the Wyndham Championship will remember Todd as the 2002 Membership Recruitment Director for the Greensboro Jaycees. He also was the chairman for CDTV (Community Development Television) that ran in 2000 on the local Cable Access channel 8.
This show was a follow up to the award winning Jaycee TV and focused more on the projects in the Greensboro Jaycees CD portfolio. It also had exclusive footage of the Greensboro Buy.Com event. The ggoblogger wishes the happy couple well.

Hardin Says "Tourney Needs Home"
"By the time it makes it here, a lot will have happened. The PGA Tour schedule is out, and Greensboro is the only tournament without a course. The official schedule reads: Aug. 11-17, Wyndham Championship, TBD. The course to be determined is still being fought over, and we all will just have to wait through the cold snap before the announcement. We'll be playing at Sedgefield this year because, well, we have to. As one close to the tournament said last year, 'If we're not playing at Sedgefield in '08, it will be because something has gone terribly wrong.'"
