Sunbrella sponsors Wyndham Championship
Sunbrella of Alamance County is the newest Wyndham Championship premier partner of the 2011 Wyndham Championship set for Aug. 15-21 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
Sunbrella joins a list of premier partners that includes Flow Automotive, Harris Teeter, McConnell Golf and VF Corporation. The premier partner is the third-highest sponsorship level following title sponsor Wyndham Worldwide and local presenting sponsor BB&T.
“We really appreciate Glen Raven’s continued support of the Wyndham Championship and their increased commitment as our newest premier partner,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “A few years ago, the overwhelming majority of our sponsorship dollars came from Guilford County companies. By using the Wyndham Championship to help promote regionalism, more than half of our sponsorship dollars now come from throughout the Piedmont Triad, and with Glen Raven located in Alamance County, that percentage is now even higher.”
“We are proud to be associated with the Wyndham Championship to help promote our region and to provide our neighbors with a chance to experience Sunbrella fabrics in a way they’ve never been able to,” Glen Raven CEO Allen Gant, Jr. said. “We look forward to all of the opportunities that come with being a premier partner of such a great event.”
Glen Raven’s additional sponsorship will include Sunbrella golf clinics with PGA TOUR professionals throughout the Piedmont Triad during tournament week. In addition, a new fan experience called the Sunbrella Comfort Zone will be located at the 12th hole. The Sunbrella Kid Zone also returns to the clubhouse area with inflatable slides suitable for kids of all ages.
Celebrating 50 years of innovation in 2011, the Sunbrella brand revolutionized the way the world thinks of beautiful performance fabrics with its entrance to the marketplace in 1961. Today, durable, easy-care Sunbrella fabrics are available in thousands of sophisticated styles, patterns and colors for wherever people live, work and play.

Mark Brazil
“I really don’t believe there’s a better or more experienced tournament committee at any other PGA TOUR event in the country,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. These people are volunteering their time to make the Wyndham Championship successful each year, and they’re doing it on top of their full time jobs. That’s a deep commitment, and we are very, very grateful for their dedication, leadership and commitment to excellence.”

2011 Wyndham Championship General Chairman Clayton Pressley
The 72nd annual Wyndham Championship will be held Aug. 15-21 at Sedgefield Country Club. This year’s general chairman is Clayton Pressley, an IT Project Manager at Duke Energy who has been volunteering at the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event since the early 1990s. He has worked in multiple areas of Wyndham Championship operations over the years including pro-ams, contestant services, procurement and sales giving him the depth of experience needed to oversee the tournament committee.
Louis DeJoy Named 2011 Wyndham Championship Honorary Chairman
Louis DeJoy, Chairman and CEO of New Breed Logistics, is joining the Wyndham Championship as the honorary chairman, it was announced during the inaugural meeting of the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation Founders Club.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., DeJoy attended Stetson University in Florida where he earned an accounting degree. He worked for several years as a CPA at a major accounting firm in Florida before returning to New York to work with his family’s trucking business.
New Breed Logistics emanated from that small trucking company founded in 1968. DeJoy joined the company in 1982 and quickly broadened its focus to information technology-based logistics management solutions and moved the business to the Piedmont Triad. His energy and vision transformed New Breed into a leader in third-party logistics. Services range from distribution center operations and transportation management to highly sophisticated and technology-focused solutions involving product assembly, vendor managed inventory, reverse logistics and repair, manufacturing support, and supply chain consulting.
As the honorary chairman, DeJoy is serving as an ambassador for the PGA TOUR event which provides important economic benefits for the entire region and the state. As the Wyndham Championship evolves, the honorary chairman leads the charge to promote Piedmont Triad regionalism through the PGA TOUR event.
“I enjoy being involved with things that are well-run and are consequential,” DeJoy said. “The Wyndham Championship is extremely enjoyable and has a significant positive impact on our community. Everything that is worth something takes vision and teamwork. The Wyndham Championship embodies collaboration and success in our community, and I am proud to serve as Honorary Chairman of this year’s tournament.”

Mr. Gene's History Hunt
Dear fellow Green Coaters, Senators, and Cardinal Colonels. Life
Members, Honorary Life Members, Old Timers and former Jaycettes,
I apologize to those that have received this (or similar) email before.
As many of you may realize, this is the 75th year of the Greensboro
Jaycees. I have already been in contact with several of you about
obtaining information about the club’s history. I’ve asked people
personally, read many years worth of The Projectors, and several GGO/
KGGO/GGCC/CCG programs and went through several personal notes. All
of this in an effort to track some history of the club.
Since the primary function of the Jaycees is to develop leaders, I
mainly focused on recording our leadership. As you can see by the
documents I am including I concentrated on recording the leadership of
the Jaycees, Executive Committee, Green Coat Club, Jaycettes and even
the Old Timers. I also tried to fill in some gaps on recording
Greensboro’s Life Members, Honorary Life Members, JCI Senators and
Carinal Corps Colonels.
As I started working I started including a category for Major Awards
(the Annual ones) and Major Chairmanships. I haven’t included the GGO
Worker of the Year (now called the Eldreth) only because I can’t find
any history on it.
In the documents I’ve attached to this email you will see what I was
able to find.
As you read over these, I still have several holes to fill in. I was
hoping I could ask for your assistance in filling these gaps. One of
the documents shows the resources I used to find this information. If
you have any answers you could share, or a copy of a GGO program or
set of The Projector magazines from a year I don’t have on my list
that I could borrow it would be greatly appreciated.
The Jaycees plan to have a 75th Anniversary celebration on October
22nd. More on that later, but I will need to be done with this
“History Hunt” by October 1st. Those I’ve contacted have joked that
I’ve “Taxed their Memories,” but yes, I need everyone’s help.
Thank you in advance for your assistance in this endeavor.
