Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker will play 2013 Wyndham Championship
Wyndham Championship winners Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker will return to Sedgefield Country Club next month to play the Wyndham Championship.
Simpson and Snedeker join reigning champion Sergio Garcia in the tournament field that will now develop rapidly with less than five weeks remaining until tournament week.
Simpson is the 2012 U.S. Open Champion. A Raleigh native and Wake Forest University alumnus, he won his first PGA TOUR event at the Wyndham in 2011 and finished tied for eighth in 2010. Simpson is currently 12th in the FedExCup point standings and 19th in the Official World Golf Rankings. The three-time PGA TOUR winner will be making his fifth consecutive Wyndham Championship appearance; he is 10th in the Wyndham Championship’s all-time money-winner standings with $1,127,073 in tournament winnings.
Snedeker is third in the current FedExCup point standings and seventh in the Official World Golf Rankings. The reigning FedExCup Champion, Snedeker will be making his seventh-consecutive appearance in the Wyndham Championship where he is seventh on the tournament’s all-time money-winners list with $1,262,759. Snedeker won the Wyndham in 2007, the first with Wyndham Worldwide as the title sponsor and has two additional top-10 finishes here. The Vanderbilt University alumnus is a five-time PGA TOUR winner; he won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am earlier this year.
“Having two of our past champions commit to the Wyndham Championship field so early is big news for us,” Wyndham Championship tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Webb won the U.S. Open last year, Brandt won the FedExCup last year, and both of them are top 20 in the world. That’s pretty impressive, and I know North Carolina golf fans will be excited to learn they’ll both be playing the Wyndham again this year.”
