2014 Founders Club Golf Challenge

The 2014 Founders Club Golf Challenge will be held Wednesday, April 30th at the Farm Course of Greensboro Country Club. In an effort to be inclusive as possible, members of the Founders Club, Jaycee Old Timers, Greensboro Jaycee Life Members, Greensboro Jaycee Board of Directors, the Wyndham Championship Staff & Executive Committee, active Jaycees and their guests are invited. Members of The Piedmont Charitable Foundation are particularly encouraged to attend. The “shotgun” start will be at 1:00 pm. A social and awards party will begin immediately after the last group has finished. We have planned an event that will be exciting for golfers of all skill levels. Individuals over fifty-five may play the senior tees, ladies may play the women’s tees and everyone else will play the members tees. You may enter a four-person team or we will place you on a team. The format will be Captain’s Choice with handicaps. There will be prizes for gross and net. Included are several contests such as the long drive, closest to the pins, and many more. "1998 Nike Greensboro Open Presented by Buick small presentation statue/Trophy ? Not sure if this was a souvenir that was sold or something presented to the participents or exactly what. Iy is made of cast resin with green felt bottom. Measures 5" wide across the bottom. It is 4 5/8" high. Brand new condition, it was sealed in the box when I bought it at a Greensboro NC yard sale where they were selling more Nike Open items. He said he was a volunteer at the tournament and the items he was selling were left overs they gave to the volunteers."

JAMES REID KERR GREENSBORO James Reid "Jamey" Kerr, 54, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. A 2 p.m. memorial service will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Jamey was born in Evansville, Indiana on January 25, 1960 to the late Matthew and Lucille Kerr. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BS in communications. He later moved to Greensboro where he worked in radio and broadcasting as the operations manager for Dick Broadcasting, a career he successfully held for 31 years. Jamey was a very loving and giving person, always willing to help a friend. He was a committed and longtime member of the Greensboro Jaycees and was involved with the golf tournament for many years. In addition, he was a huge Tennessee Volunteer fan and loved the music of Jimmy Buffet. He also enjoyed water and snow skiing with family. A loving father to his children, he was cared for by many. He is survived by his children, Ashley Lucille Kerr and James R. "Reid" Kerr, Jr. In addition, he is survived by a brother, Davey Kerr (Betsy) and a sister, Chris Nixon (Jim).
