Wyndham Championship Partners with Ticketmaster

Wyndham Championship tickets are now available for purchase, and for the first time, fans can purchase Wyndham tickets through international ticketing giant, Ticketmaster. The 78th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 14-20 at Sedgefield Country Club. Wyndham Championship tickets have been available for electronic purchase through the tournament website for many years, but now, all online ticket purchases will be powered by Ticketmaster. Tickets are available for purchase through the tournament website or at www.Ticketmaster.com. New this year, the Wyndham Championship is offering tiered ticket pricing; tickets purchased in advance will be less expensive than those purchased closer to the tournament. For example, daily grounds tickets for official tournament play (Thursday through Sunday) now start at just $35 but will increase to $40 on July 10 and to $50 tournament week. A Letter From The President April 8th, 2017 Fellow Former and Current Jaycee Members and Affiliates: As the first quarter of 2017 comes to a close, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your hard work and support in helping the Greensboro Jaycees fulfill our mission of creating opportunities to empower young people to create positive change. Here are some of our accomplishments thus far: 1. We helped raise $21,000 at our first annual Bags-to-Wishes Cornhole Tournament to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Central and Western North Carolina. By partnering with other local leaders and sponsors, we were able to host a fun and competitive tournament at LeBauer Park and grant the wishes of three children. 2. We provided volunteer opportunities by serving dinner to the disadvantaged at Urban Ministries and assisting with the 2017 Distinguished Young Women of North Carolina's annual scholarship competition. 3. We hosted three guest speakers for seminars on home purchasing, financial literacy, and taking a holistic approach to addressing the basic needs of the disadvantaged with the United Way. 4. We have partnered with local young professional groups such as SynerG and Vivace to share member resources and to promote individual and collective events. Overall, I think these are excellent examples of our commitments for 2017 to be present in major community events (show up), and to provide volunteer and educational opportunities to our membership (follow through). This should provide us with strong momentum as we move into our summer events and gear up for the 15th annual Taste Carolina Wine Festival in the Fall! "In Mark’s PGA career that began as as a professional in 1983, he has won 7 PGA tournaments. We are thrilled to present his Winner’s Gold medal for winning the K-Mart Greater Greensboro Open that was played on April 25 – April 28, 1991. For obvious reasons, Winner's Gold Medals make it to the collector market very infrequently. This medal measures 1.5 inches in diameter. We can not stress how rare these medals are. Past winners of this tournament include golf legends such as, Byron Nelson, Ralph Guldahl, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Doug Ford, Billy Casper, Julius Boros, Tom Weiskopf, Chi-Chi Rodriguez, and a slew of others. John Gee was a great person and a great Jaycee that loved the tournament very much. I would like to tell you something about John as he created a first in tournament golf. In 1971 John was my gallery Chairman. As we traveled the tournaments you saw people holding up posters asking the gallery to be quite. John and I had served as gallery marshals many times . We knew the difficulty of keeping the galleries back and keeping them quite. Why not create something that gave the marshall some instrument of authority and would get the attention of the gallery. John developed the marshal paddle you see at most professional tournament today with the words quite please painted on the paddle. It was a perfect tool and also served as something that the marshal could lean on. And to get the gallery's attention we painted them a florescent orange. We should had gotten a patent as you see the "quite please" paddles at most tournaments today and it all started at the GGO. Nobody was more committed to excellence at the tournament than John Gee. John Buxton Gee Jr.

John Buxton Gee Jr., 75, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away on April 1, 2017. The funeral service was held at the First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Born in Henderson, NC,John graduated from Henderson High School and Duke University, where he played football and received a bachelors degree in civil engineering. He remained a life-long supporter of Duke athletics. John worked for Carolina Steel for a number of years, as well as several other local firms. He recently retired from John B. Gee, PE, Inc, his engineering consulting business. John was elected president of his senior class at Henderson High School. He was recognized as the Young Engineer of the Year by the Professional Engineers of North Carolina, was a member of the Greensboro Junior Chamber of Commerce, where he served two terms as an Area Chairman and was a member of the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation Founders Club. John was also a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, where he served on the Master Plan Task Force, the Finance Committee, and several others. Memorial donations should be sent to First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27401, or Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, 204 Idol St, Thomasville, NC 27360.
