Jordan Spieth Joins the 2025 Wyndham Field

Jordan Spieth will return to Sedgefield for the 2025 Wyndham Championship. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Spieth won the Masters, the U.S. Open and the FedExCup championship in 2015 followed by the Open Championship in 2017. The 13-time PGA TOUR winner is 48th in FedExCup points and 49th in the Official World Golf Rankings. His best finishes this season are fourth at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, tied for fourth at the WM Phoenix Open and tied for seventh at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. After successful off-season wrist surgery, Spieth suffered a neck and upper back injury earlier this summer but is now healthy. A native of Dallas, he will make his second-consecutive Wyndham Championship appearance and his fifth overall. During his 2013 rookie season, he lost a two-hole playoff to Patrick Reed and finished second – still his best Wyndham Championship finish. He played in the Ryder Cup in 2014, ’16, ’18, ’21 and ‘23 and the Presidents Cup in 2013, ’15, ’17 and ‘22. “Jordan is one of the top-five guys every tournament wants in their field,” Executive Director Mark Brazil said. “We are excited to have him with us again this year. With his short game and knowledge of this golf course, it would not surprise me to see him in contention on Sunday.” During his junior golf career, Spieth played the AJGA Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey at Sedgefield in 2008 and ’09 finishing tied for sixth and fourth, respectively. He started the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation in 2014 as a platform to lend time, awareness and financial assistance to individuals with Special Needs, Junior Golf, Military Families and Veterans, and Pediatric Cancer.

Aaron Rai Will Defend Title at the 2025 Wyndham Championship

Defending champion Aaron Rai will play the 2025 Wyndham Championship. The 86th annual Wyndham Championship is set for July 30-Aug. 3, 2025 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Rai captured his first PGA TOUR win at Sedgefield last summer, but with five international victories already to his credit, he was far from a rookie. Rai battled through 72 holes in just three days after the opening round was delayed until Friday due to the remnants of Hurricane Debby. He closed with a bogey-free 64 finishing almost in the dark. Rai became the tournament’s 21st first-time winner, its 21st international winner and its first winner from England. He hasn’t won this season, but several strong finishes include tied for fourth at the Mexico Open at Vidante World. He is currently 54th in FedExCup points and 34th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He will make his fourth Wyndham Championship start.

Jay Horton Named 2025 General Chairman

Jay Horton, will serve as the 2025 General Chairman. The 86th annual Wyndham Championship is set for July 30-Aug. 3, 2025 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. As the General Chairman, Horton leads the team of some 1,200 tournament volunteers and chairs the tournament committee, a group of year-round volunteer leaders, each overseeing an area of tournament operations. He moved to Greensboro in 1991 as a salesman for Brach’s candy. Today, he works for Canon USA supporting companies with a major presence or corporate headquarters in North Carolina. Two years after moving to Greensboro, he joined the Wyndham Championship, then the Greater Greensboro Open, as a volunteer. He volunteered in concessions, operations and just about every other area of tournament operations. For the last several years, Horton worked with his fellow volunteers running the tournament’s Monday and Wednesday pro-ams. Already having experience in most areas of the tournament, pro-ams allowed him to interact with corporate partners, PGA TOUR officials and players as well as Sedgefield Country Club personnel. “It’s an incredible honor,” Horton said. “The history of this tournament is rich and meaningful. What keeps me coming back year in and year out is the pride of the community, the value the tournament brings to central North Carolina and the relationships that now span three decades. When you look back at the tournament, it’s remarkable to reflect on nearly nine decades of history. That kind of legacy is inspiring. “None of this would be possible without our more than 1,200 volunteers. We’re so grateful and completely understand we couldn’t do it without them! Just as the community needs the Wyndham Championship, the tournament relies on the dedication and support of its volunteers. “I serve alongside folks I’ve volunteered with for over 30 years. There’s something incredibly special about that kind of connection, and it speaks volumes about what Central North Carolina has with the Wyndham Championship. It’s more than just a golf tournament—it’s a tradition, a community and a family.” Horton is a native of Williamston, N.C., and a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill alumnus. He and his wife, Terisa, live just outside Greensboro, and their niece, Anna, is a Wyndham Championship senior intern. Horton’s tournament committee of area leaders, including six former general chairs listed with the year they served, is listed below: Food & Beverage: Kyle Teschke, Mitchell Whitley Operations: Michael McDonald Parking: Councial Glenn Player Services: Bruce Atkinson, Charles McClintock Pro-Ams: Judy Harrelson, Keith Ayscue Security: Mike Ebel (2019), Phil Cathcart (2022) Sponsor Services: Melissa Bruce, Will McPherson (2020, ‘21), Carolyn Walters (2015) Transportation: Helen Houser, Jim Turner, Brett Weathersbee Tournament Liaison: Ryan Wilson Members at Large: Robert Bain (2024), Zac Engle, Derek Mobley, Clayton Pressley (2011), Kari Sells.

Harold Moose Named 2025 Wyndham Championship Honorary Chairman

Harold Moose, Public Relations Director at Furnitureland South in Jamestown, has been named the 2025 Wyndham Championship Honorary Chairman. The 86th annual Wyndham Championship is set for July 30-Aug. 3, 2025 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. A Furnitureland South fixture since 1997, Moose officially works in public relations, but his actual role is more covert. Over the years, Moose says he’s hosted hundreds of professional athletes at the store. Perhaps the most influential was Jack Nicklaus, and his wife, Barbara, who opened the door to many PGA TOUR golfers. Among the VIPs Moose hosts on a regular basis are PGA TOUR players and their wives during Wyndham Championship week. He works with the PGA TOUR Wives Association to host an annual event at Furnitureland South. In 2024, 39 PGA TOUR wives and eight players attended to play The Price is Right. Like the television game show, contestants guess furniture prices ranging from $1,000 to $10,000; the closest wins the item, and the company donates a shopping spree to charity on behalf of the TOUR Wives Association. During last year’s tournament, Moose learned he would be the 2025 honorary chairman from one of his closest friends, CBS’ Jim Nantz. “I had no idea,” Moose said. “I was in shock; I cried. I’m emotional especially when it came from Jim. We’ve been friends since the first year he was on TOUR, and Freddy Couples brought him to my house. Freddy stayed with me whenever he played here. Jim is one of my closest friends; I talk to him every week.” “Harold is one of my dearest friends in my life,” Nantz said when speaking at the Pinnacle Financial Partners Forum Series at High Point University in May. “He truly is a loving person who has positively affected so many people, and there are about 100 PGA TOUR professionals that would love to have a microphone to deliver a testimonial about how much Harold’s meant to their families and how much he cares and would do anything for anybody.”
