Kevin Harvick Foundation
For the second year the Wyndham Championship will host the Kevin Harvick Foundation Pro-Am event on Monday, Aug. 15.
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver, Kevin Harvick, will join PGA TOUR professionals and other amateur golfers in filling four-person teams to compete in the second-annual Kevin Harvick Foundation pro-am presented by Technology Concepts & Design. In keeping with the Kevin Harvick Foundation mission statement to positively affect the lives of children, several hundred local youth will attend the event as special guests of the Kevin Harvick Foundation and its partners.
In addition to the Monday pro-am, the Kevin Harvick Foundation will host an expo tent for the entire week of the tournament. The No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet show car, a replica of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car Harvick drives, will be on display for the Kevin Harvick Foundation Pro-Am. In the foundation expo for the remainder of the week, the No. 33 Chevrolet show car which Harvick drives in the NASCAR Nationwide Series will be featured with a special Wyndham Championship paint scheme. At the expo, fans will have access to information about Foundation programs and upcoming events, plus a chance to win autographed racing memorabilia.
The Kevin Harvick Foundation is also one of some 50 local and national charitable organizations that will have chance to win $100,000 from Wishes by Wyndham, the philanthropic foundation of Wyndham Worldwide. During the four official rounds of PGA TOUR play, Thursday, Aug. 17 through Sunday, Aug. 21, tournament patrons will have the opportunity to vote at computer kiosks in the “Key to Wyn” tent for their charity of choice, including the Kevin Harvick Foundation. Patrons may vote only once per day.
The Charity receiving the most votes when voting closes at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21 will receive the $100,000 donation from Wishes By Wyndham. The check presentation will happen immediately after the winner of the Wyndham Championship receives the Sam Snead Cup on the 18th green following the tournament.
“This is the second year we’ve been fortunate to partner with the Wyndham Championship for this Pro-Am event,” said Harvick. “I want to thank Mark Brazil and everyone with the Wyndham Championship for the opportunity. It is through events like this that we can further the mission of the Kevin Harvick Foundation and further the dreams of children.”
“The inaugural Kevin Harvick Foundation pro-am was a huge success last year, and we are very happy to have Kevin and his foundation back at the Wyndham,” Wyndham Championship tournament director Mark Brazil said. “The Kevin Harvick Foundation mission to help improve the lives of children fits perfectly into the Wishes by Wyndham charity program that will award $100,000 to the charity getting the most votes during the four days of the actual tournament. We appreciate Bill Johnson and TCDI for their generosity in making this event happen, and we look forward to helping many children through our partnership with the Kevin Harvick Foundation.”
The Pro-Am event is one of several Kevin Harvick Foundation events scheduled throughout the year. The calendar also includes Kevin’s Krew events; Happy’s Classic golf tournament in November in Bakersfield, Calif.; the John Paul Linville Memorial Golf Classic in October in Greensboro, N.C.; and the Christmas for Kids Concert in December in Winston-Salem, N.C
