Davis Love III, seen here playing out of a bunker at the 2003 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, is the 2012 Ryder Cup Captain. Love will play in the 2012 Wyndham Championship
Love, who won the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event in 1992 and 2006, will be making his 18th appearance at the Wyndham; he finished tied for 12th last year. He has 20 PGA TOUR wins including the 1997 PGA Championship.
“Anytime Davis Love III plays in our tournament, it is big news,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “He’s one of our all-time greatest champions, and being the Ryder Cup Captain is a major achievement in Davis’ career. We are honored that he chose to play the Wyndham during such a busy and important time.”
Love has represented the United States of America on 19 different teams. He played on the Ryder Cup team six times, the President’s Cup team six times, the World Cup team five times, the Walker Cup team once and the Dunhill Cup team once.
