Wyndham Championship's 70th Year Promotions

The 70th annual Wyndham Championship, Aug. 17-23 at Sedgefield Country Club, four months away. Here are a couple of updates about this year's event.

17th Green Party Deck
When fans get to the par-four 17th hole at Sedgefield, the area behind the green will be very different. The 17th hole is the last of three that make up the “Sweet Spot” at Sedgefield. In addition to the luxury suites and premium grandstands at the 17th green, the tournament is adding a party deck - a massive, open-air hospitality venue. The party deck credential is an affordable hospitality pass that includes tournament admission, lunch, snacks, Coca-Cola products, beer and wine. Daily tickets are $150, and a weekly pass is $500. Both can be purchased at www.wyndhamchampionship.com.

70th Year, $70 Weekly Badge
The Wyndham Championship is doing its part to keep the Piedmont Triad’s only major-league professional sports event affordable in a difficult economy. In a tribute to the 70th Wyndham Championship, weekly badges are just $70 this year. the weekly badges provide access to the tournament grounds Tuesday through Sunday. Individual ticket prices remain $25 per day, and children 15 and younger are admitted free with a paying adult. Tickets for the Tuesday practice round and Wednesday’s Lincoln Financial Pro-Am are just $10. New this year, Monday of tournament week is Sedgefield Members Day; the Monday pro-am is not open to the general public. All tickets are now available for purchase at www.wyndhamchampionship.com.

Premium Grandstands
Grandstands are basically large bleachers unless you’re at the Wyndham Championship where fans can now watch the tournament from the Premium Grandstands at the 15th and 17th holes at Sedgefield Country Club. The Wyndham Championship is introducing this new concept in 2009 to provide the every-day patron access to a prime-viewing location in the “Sweet Spot” with convenient access to concessions so they can purchase refreshments without leaving the grandstands. Fans can access the premium grandstands with a daily grounds ticket or a weekly grounds badge. Beverages and snacks are available for purchase on the back side of the grandstands so there’s no walking to the closest concessions stand. Premium Grandstands will be located on the golfer’s right of the 17th hole and on the golfer’s left of the 15th hole. The “Sweet Spot” is the area of holes 15, 16 and 17.

New Wyndham Website Launched
The new Wyndhamchampionship.com has been launched. The new site includes interactive features, multimedia presentations and opportunities for more fan interaction. The navigation bar moves to the top of the home page and replaces the familiar buttons that were on the left hand side of the page. A list of options drops down after the user clicks on a button on the navigation bar. The updated website offers information on tickets, sponsorships, pro-ams, parking and other general tournament information. As the tournament approaches, the website will feature blogs about tournament preparations and blogs about the event during tournament week.

(It's about time someone started a blog about this tournament.)
