"I recently obtained a fairly large group of memorabilia belonging to long-time sportswriter John Derr, who covered the pro golf scene for nearly 65 years, and who also covered other professional sports, especially horse-racing and baseball....Derr was on the staff of CBS News for a significant portion of that time....almost all of the material was glued into scrapbooks, so the majority of it has a bit of brown paper on the back. This lot is a press pass for the 1953 Greater Greensboro Open Golf Tournament.....has a thin wearing string at the top...Derr's name is written on the front...back has a Schlitz advertisement...some scrapbook damage on the back, but not excessive..also shows creasing...pass no. 7; I'm guessing there aren't a lot of these around today!"
