Aaron Rai to play 2026 Wyndham Championship

Aaron Rai, winner of the 2026 PGA Championship, will play the 2026 Wyndham Championship. The 87th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 5-9, 2026, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Rai won the PGA Championship May 17 at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa., shooting a final round 5-under 65 to take a three-stroke win over Alex Smalley and Jon Rahm. He became the first English-born player to win the PGA since Jim Barnes in 1919. In addition to his PGA Championship win, Rai’s best finishes this year are fifth at the OneFlight Myrtle Beach Classic and tied for 11th at the U.S. Open. He is currently 33rd in FedExCup points and 20th in the Official World Golf Rankings. “Having the reigning PGA Champion in the Wyndham Championship field is a big deal,” Executive Director Mark Brazil said. “Aaron showed the world what a great player is when he won by three on a very difficult golf course, but we saw him play 72 holes in three days at Sedgefield Country Club so we already knew he had it in him. We’re so happy for Aaron to win a Major and look forward to welcoming him back to Sedgefield.” Rai captured his first PGA TOUR win at Sedgefield in 2024, but with five international victories already to his credit, he was far from a rookie. He battled through 72 holes in just three days after the opening round was delayed until Friday due to the remnants of Hurricane Debby. He closed with a bogey-free 64 finishing almost in the dark. Rai will make his fifth-consecutive Wyndham Championship appearance; he finished tied for fifth last year after winning in 2024.
