"4-13-1971 Golf World magazine BUD ALLIN Wins GREENSBORO
Here is the April 13, 1971 Golf World with a great cover photo of Bud Allin and his wife Celia. Mr. Allin had just won the Greater Greensboro Open at Sedgefield CC and this issue has a fine account of the event. The 31-page magazine also has coverage of the Italian Open (won by Ramon Sota) and the University of Miami Invitational (where Andy North won individual honors in leading his Florida Gators to the team title).
Perhaps most appealingly, it has a report (with 3 pictures) on a very rare exhibition Ben Hogan had played with Tommy Bolt at the Bardmoor CC in Largo, Florida. You aren’t likely to find a nicer example of this 36-year old periodical so, if you enjoy golf history, or are a fan of the great Ben Hogan, don‘t miss this opportunity."

"FootJoy Invitational Follows Wyndham Championship to Sedgefield Country Club
Sedgefield Country Club, the newly named venue of the PGA TOUR’s Wyndham Championship, will also play host to 99 of the best junior boys in the world during the FootJoy Invitational June 9-13, 2008, the American Junior Golf Association announced Thursday. Now in its seventh year, the FootJoy Invitational has had four of its champions go on to win Rolex Junior Player of the Year honors in the same year.
"This is an exciting opportunity for the FootJoy Invitational," Mark Brazil, tournament director for the Wyndham Championship and tournament chairman for the FootJoy Invitational, said. "These talented young men will now have access to a recently restored 1926 Donald Ross design and PGA TOUR venue when they come to Greensboro in June.""

What's on eBay? 1973 GGO Letter Opener
"Commemorative letter opener from the 1973 Greater Greensboro Open held in Greensboro, North Carolina. I believe this tournament might have been held at Sedgefield Country Club but I could be mistaken - I do not follow golf.
This letter opener, which measures 7 inches long, is in good shape although it does have some surface marring and the back looks a little dull. Would probably clean up some. It comes with a black holder which I think is vinyl. I do not know who won the tournament in 1973 - perhaps one of you fans out there could enlighten me.

This piece is one of the ggoblogger's favorite GGO collectible items of all time. You can actually use this for something. I've had one for years.)
