The City Council of the City of Greensboro met in regular session at 6:00 p.m. on the above date in the Council Chamber of the Melvin Municipal Office Building with the following members present: Mayor Keith A. Holliday, presiding; Councilmembers Claudette Burroughs-White, Sandra G. Carmany, Florence F. Gatten, Yvonne
J. Johnson, Robert V. Perkins, Thomas M. Phillips, and Donald R. Vaughan. Absent: Councilmember T. Dianne
Bellamy-Small, excused by action of Council. Also present were J. Edward Kitchen, City Manager; Linda A. Miles,
City Attorney; and Juanita F. Cooper, City Clerk.
The meeting was opened with a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

The Manager recognized Dwaine McMillon, employee in the Support Services Department, who served as courier for the meeting.

The Manager advised he would request that Council adjourn to meet in Closed Session after this regular meeting for the purpose of discussing economic incentives and possibly a personnel matter.

The Mayor explained the Council procedure for conduct of the meeting.

Councilmember Gatten moved to excuse Councilmember Bellamy-Small from attendance at this meeting. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Burroughs-White and adopted unanimously by voice vote of Council.

Council received a report from Judy Revels, residing at 2919 McLaurin Court, High Point, NC, and General Chairperson of the 2003 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, regarding the success of the tournament; she detailed the Greensboro Jaycees’ financial contributions to the community that were made possible by proceeds from the tournament. Members of Council commended Ms. Revels and the Greensboro Jaycees for their efforts in conducting this prestigious tournament and for bringing positive, worldwide attend to Greensboro and the Triad
Area.
