Sam Snead holds the record for the most career victories on PGA TOUR co-sponsored and/or approved tournments with 82. Jack Nicklaus is second with 73.
He also holds the record for the most years between first and last victory in the same event at 27 years. He won the Greater Greensboro Open in 1938 and the last time in 1965, with six wins at the same event in between.
He won the Greater Greensboro Open a total of eight times in 1938, 1946, 1949, 1950, 1955, 1956, 1960 and for the last time in 1965. He holds the PGA TOUR record for the most wins in a single event.
