Gatecity Blog Says Jaycees Are "Explaining Away Jaycee Membership"

"Gate thinks that is an excuse for the membership loss of the Jaycees. As stated in the story, numerous organizations that promote volunteering have arisen in just the past few years, and many younger professionals are joining them.

I continue to think that the membership problem of the Jaycees is not because people have gotten to busy to join, but that there has been no reason for them to join. The new groups clearly show that voluntarism has not waned in young people.

They merely seek active, quality groups to be members. The Greensboro Jaycees have had their problems the past few years, and many are their own making. Soon they will stop being the decision makers for the GGO.

Then they will have one less reason for people to join.I think the secret to success of any group is the quality and professionalism of its membership. The Jaycees need to address this before they say people are too busy to join them."
