PGA TOUR’S CARL PETTERSSON JOINS FOUNDATION BOARD

"Carl Pettersson, a PGA TOUR player living in Raleigh, N.C., has joined the Foundation Board that oversees Wyndham Championship operations as the player representative. The position was unanimously approved by the Board during its second-quarter meeting on June 27.

After living in Gothensburg, Sweden, Pettersson’s family moved to the Piedmont Triad when Pettersson’s father was transferred to the Volvo Truck Facility in Greensboro. Pettersson attended Grimsley High School for two years and was the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4-A medalist in 1996. He went on to play golf while attending N.C. State in Raleigh before turning professional in 2000. "We have one of the strongest boards on the PGA TOUR, tournament director Mark Brazil said. "We decided it would be a good idea to have a player’s perspective, and we are fortunate to have one of the world’s top players living here in North Carolina.

Carl has been very supportive of our tournament over the years. It’s much easier to make decisions that will affect the players when one of them is a part of those decisions. We will be working with Carl on ways to improve all aspects of the Wyndham Championship."Pettersson is 44th in the July 1 Official World Golf Rankings and 61st in the current FedExCup standings. Pettersson and his wife, DeAnna have one child and are expecting their second later this summer. "
