Rocco Mediate will play Wyndham Championship

Two-time Greensboro winner Rocco Mediate will play in the 2009 Wyndham Championship.
Mediate, who won the 1993 Kmart Greater Greensboro Open and 2002 Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic, is fifth on the Wyndham Championship’s all-time money winners list with $1,139,484.56.

Mediate’s 2009 Wyndham Championship appearance will be his 18th in Greensboro. It will be his first tournament at Sedgefield. He committed to play in last year’s event but withdrew because of late-season fatigue following his runner-up finish to Tiger Woods in the U.S. Open and the resulting grueling remainder of the season.

“Anytime a two-time winner like Rocco joins the field, it’s a big deal,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Rocco is a fan favorite worldwide, but he is especially loved in these parts where he captured two of his five PGA TOUR victories.”
