WFMY Reports "A Looming Shake Up on PGA TOUR"

"PGA restructuring could move the tournament back to the spring, or worse, cut the tourney all together.

Greensboro, NC -- There are questions about the future of the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro.A looming shake up on the PGA tour could drive the tournament back to the spring, or worse, cancel the 67-year Classic all together.

PGA officials are in the process of restructuring the tour because some fall events, like the CCG, are not up to par in the TV ratings against football.Since getting word of the possible rescheduling, CCG representatives have been in constant communication with the PGA.

"I can't ever say I'm 100% about anything. You know, crossing the road right now, I'm not positive I'm gonna make it. But I'm as confident as possible that we're not gonna be cut from any schedule," says CCG Director Mark Brazil.

Brazil says the biggest point of leverage for the CCG is its rich 67-year history and its title sponsor Chrysler. Chrysler is the largest sponsor on the tour.Brazil says the tournament is locked in to its fall time slot at least through 2006."
