"Justin Conrad pointed out many times over the course of the year that 8 of 11 of his committee members were brand new. Without any other conditions placed on general chairman candidates, it is possible that our 2007 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro General Chairman may have never held a chairmanship."
This is incorrect Randy. 9 out of 11 leadmen were new to the executive committee, not to the tournament. All but two of them had served as a chairman in 2004. One exception was a last minute replacement for someone who resigned for personal reasons, and another was a person I personally rerecruited who had in the past become disenfranchised with the Jaycees. Her service included many high profile chairmanships and Board experience.
You have a valid point on the honorary chairman, but remember, this choice is selected by the GC (general chairman) and voted on by the entire executive committee.
As for the GC Club (Green Coat Club) representative, these spots are elected by the entire GC Club (Green Coat Club). It is a rare situation indeed for the Coat to be awarded to a non member.
As you mention it has only happened twice in almost 70 years. The GC Club (Green Coat Club) will have to carefully consider the people elected to their board. This years' nominee, Fred Starr, was a fantastic choice.
Yes, your predictions are technically possible. A little too much of the conspiracy theory for me though. At the end of the day the Jaycees still decide the fate of these four positions.
All of the possible candidates I have heard for 2007 would be great, and all of them have served the Jaycees in both tournament and non-tournament capacities.
Thanks again for your help in the media tent during the tournament. It was appreciated.
