Depending on which watering hole you were drinking from this year at the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, you may have noticed that there were no champion's names listed on your plastic tumbler. These cups are often refered to as "Champions Cups" because they have the names of every winner since Sam Snead's victory back in 1938.
The ggoblogger wanted to get to the bottom of this cup controversy so I spoke with 2006 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro General Chairman Geoff Cass moments before he was to take on his new role on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005.
ggoblogger: I want to get to the bottom of the no champions on the Champions Cup controversy. Can you speak to that?
Geoff Cass: I'd be glad to Randy. The issue is that this year we wound up with two cups. One in the sponsor areas which has our logos, PGA TOUR logos, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield logo and another one which we use in the concessions stands and beer gardens which has the fore mentioned logos plus all the champion on there.
ggoblogger: So the Champions Cup still exist, that's just an additional cup this year?
Geoff Cass: Yes, the Champions Cup is still in existence right now.
