"Thanks for all of your concerns and posts about the Chrysler Classic. Being so close to the situation it sometimes helps to be able to get an unfiltered opinion about the tournament and changes we made.

The premise of my earlier post was that this years' executive committee was tasked with a challenge that none of us really looked forward to, but one that needed to be addressed. I couldn't agree more that this new foundation should have happened years ago, but you play the hand you are dealt. Monday morning quarterbacking doesnt help get the job done.

One thing is certain; if we did not make the changes we made this year, in the way we made them, we would have no tournament after 2006. While it could be said that our hand was predetermined, I would counter that history is full of people who knew the right thing to do but chose to avoid controversial actions.

Like I've heard before, you can always tell the pioneers by the arrows in their backs. We knew that some would criticize our actions but the long-term future of the tournament was more important in our eyes.

One of the most important pieces of our new foundation that often goes overlooked is the new opportunity for young people to be on a board with the best and brightest business leaders in the triad. This opportunity is one that should be very attractive to young professionals. It is an opportunity that Jaycee members did not have until this year. While not getting into specifics, our arrangement with the foundation ensures a long-term partnership with the Jaycees. The Jaycees will remain a critical point for the tournaments' success as both the hands on operations and host organization of the tournament.

The Foundation is named the Greensboro Jaycee Charitable Foundation. Our partners understood and respected the history of the Jaycees and the Chrysler Classic, and wanted to maintain that history.

Gate, thank for your concern and interest in the Chrysler Classic. You care a great deal about the tournament as is evident in the amount of posts you have related to its history and success. Seeing the public support for the tournament this year was an awesome experience.

Thanks again,

JC"
