Past President Kevin von der Lippe Defends Jaycees

Greensboro Jaycees past President Kevin von der Lippe will have two things to talk about at the uncoming Green Coat Club cocktail party. The first, of course will be his recent engagement to Laura Wood and the second will be to answer for the comments made in today's News and Record.

"Many Green Coat members are getting old and lack the influence of the past, except for Melvin, president of the Joseph Bryan Foundation and a member of the new tournament foundation board."

This excerpt was taken from the following link. To read the entire article go to:http://www.news-record.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050910/NEWSREC0101/509090333

As one of those Green Coaters I will be the first to admit that I have no influence in this town, I just hope the rest of those guys take those comments well.

It was their fault, so they deserve the blame. The recent changes should have happened ten years ago.

Maybe the quote should be put into the context of the entire discussion between Jim and me. I feel that many of the "new" Green Coat Club members have followed careers that have taken them out of the Greater Greensboro Area. Our influence in our community is declining since our community's up-and-coming leadership has found careers elsewhere.
